In this unit, we’ll dive further into being intentional with our faith by evaluating our spiritual habits. This unit, building on the previous one, presents some new insights but maintains the same course format. There are two pre-gathering lessons, three group lessons, and three post-gathering lessons. Let’s begin!

Welcome back to your traveler’s guide for Unit 4 of our six-unit adventure in practicing theology! As we continue our journey of faith leadership, this unit invites us to explore deeper aspects of our spiritual practices and habits. While maintaining the familiar format of previous units, Unit 4 assists us in unraveling some prevalent roadblocks that require our mindfulness.

Instructor: Chap Clark

In the world of practical theology, engaging in the process of theological reflection and faithful discernment is a grand adventure with its challenges. Often, a crucial skill is overlooked – the art of identifying the right issue or situation to bring to the process. Sometimes, things can become tangled and confusing. Without guidance and practice, our theological reflections might veer off course. So, this is where Unit 5 begins: learning to look around and ask, “What’s happening here?” and “What’s God up to in all of this?” Then comes the enjoyable part – figuring out what’s worth exploring further for engagement.

Instructor: Chap Clark

Imparting the soul-deepening practice of faithful discipleship is an invaluable skill for every Christian leader. In this final unit of Certificate 1: Practicing Theology, we'll explore how to mentor others, teaching them to read the signs and sounds of God's guidance in their own journeys.

The Practicing Theology Final project includes a presentation and a two-page reflection. Embrace this opportunity to deepen your grasp of the practicing theology model and hone your ability to communicate its principles effectively to others. This project is not just an academic exercise; it’s a step towards integrating theological wisdom into practical, everyday life and leadership.

Welcome to the “On Mission” certificate program, your road map to living out your purpose. In this first of six units, we embark on a journey to integrate faith and leadership, guided by experts like Dr. Chap Clark and partners at the Institute for Ministry Leadership and FULLER Equip. Each unit opens new horizons for exploration and understanding, enriching your spiritual formation. Together, we’ll uncover profound insights and apply them in real-world contexts. Let’s begin this exciting venture into practicing and deepening our theological understanding.

Instructor: Chap Clark

This part of our journey focuses on the essential question, “Who is my neighbor?” We’ll examine the themes of community, empathy, and our daily connections. Building upon the foundational insights from the first unit, we’ll engage with theological and practical perspectives from experts such as author, professor, and pastor Dr. Chap Clark, alongside other partners through FULLER Equip. Each session is crafted to broaden your understanding and challenge existing views, fostering your spiritual growth. We’ll explore diverse contexts and cultures, aiming to apply our evolving theological knowledge in impactful ways.

Instructor: Chap Clark

In our previous sessions, we engaged with the profound call to be active participants in God’s mission of restoring creation, and we carefully considered the importance of seeing the people around us as our neighbors. Next, we turn our focus directly to St. Patrick, whose life exemplifies the principles we’ve been exploring.

In Unit 4 of the On Mission Certificate,  we embark on a journey to redefine persuasion as ethical engagement rather than coercion. This unit calls upon all believers to actively engage in God’s mission integrating principles of daily devotion and respectful dialogue. Anchored by the wisdom of 1 Peter 3:15 and the Social Judgment Theory, our discussions will focus on the art of persuasive faith sharing conducted with care and respect. Through this unit, we aim to cultivate a lifestyle that not only embodies practical faith application but also spreads God’s healing and hope to the world around us. Join us as we explore how to communicate our faith in ways that are both effective and ethically grounded, fostering an environment of understanding and mutual respect.

Instructor: Chap Clark

In Unit 5 of the “On Mission” certificate program, we examine how we are called to partner with the Spirit in the essential tasks of reclaiming and restoring shalom. This unit will then teach us how to actively pursue and create shalom.

Instructor: Chap Clark

Welcome to the Unit 6 of the “On Mission” certificate program. In this concluding phase, we revisit the essence of being on mission and the three key components: telling Jesus’ story, caring for others, and participating in God’s restorative work. We will also discuss the concept of floating with purpose and explore what it means to be faithful to God’s call with our lives. This unit will solidify your understanding of what it means to be “On Mission.”

Instructor: Chap Clark

In this conclusion to the On Mission Certificate, you will reflect on and summarize the spiritual formation practices and the concepts and insights you’ve gathered during this journey.
