Description

The Certificate in Theology and the Arts answers this essential question: How does integrating theology and the arts bring renewal to church and culture?
 

This Certificate consists of six courses plus a final project. It teaches and trains artists, ministry leaders, and art appreciators on why and how to understand and participate in God’s mission in the world based on the experiences of “head,” “heart,” and “hand” learning opportunities. 
 

You will develop a deeper understanding of God’s artistic and creative purposes for his world, reflect on your own life and calling as it relates to the arts, and examine how theories and practices shape your understanding of culture, reflecting on your own life and calling as it relates to art, culture, and theology.

In this Understanding & Applying Theology: The Brehm Method for Artists and Ministry Leaders course, artists will learn what theology is and what aspects of our lives and experiences shape our theology and the theology of others. _A second version of the course, Understanding & Applying Theology (previously Doing Theology), is available for a broader audience. _

In this Final Project, you will reflect on the ways your understanding of participating in God’s mission in the world has grown and will create a personal creative project that integrates theology and art relating to your context.
