About This Course

You may experience the symptoms of our polarized society in a conversation with a close friend, around the dinner table during the holidays, or when scrolling your newsfeed before bed. You’re not alone in wondering about the best ways to navigate differences of opinions and ideas with those you care for most. This introductory course, What Now? Navigating Family, Evangelism, & Social Media in a Polarized Society, begins to address three common challenges and opportunities for participating in our diverse, polarized democracy as a Christian in the United States.

Specifically, this short course will briefly offer practical insights into navigating three important questions:

  1. How do I broach deep differences within my family and all its complex dynamics
  2. How do I respectfully navigate diverse beliefs while honoring the call to evangelism
  3. How do I handle disagreements online?

Join theologian Matthew Kaemingk and law professor John Inazu as you learn to live faithfully in a polarized society through the conversations and actions you take every day.

The introductory course is part of a full-length FULLER Equip course, Following Jesus in a Polarized Society. Both resources were created in partnership with Interfaith America’s Evangelicals in a Diverse Democracy (EDD) initiative. EDD “seeks to narrate a new story of how evangelicals can live faithfully and neighborly in a world they don’t control, nurture the next generation of evangelicals as they wrestle with how to live out their faith in a polarized and contentious climate, and nourish Christian communities through relationships, resources, and collaborative efforts towards the common good.”
